Totally awesome! I love can-can dresses -- and I am guilty of being a kreno-phile. I wear them under almost *all* my dresses and skirts. I really like the contrasting orange to the blue and purple of the actual dress. Authentic-looking too, how they actually were rather simple.
Thankies!!! i based this one partly off Moulin Rouge, and partly off whatever i had available at the time for material! the crinoline is actually multicolored! theres blue and green and pink mixed in with the orange. its the only crinoline i own, and i got it at a garage sale, for like, 4 bucks i think. ive got another pic of this that i think im gonna post, with my friend duchess wearing it! we got a little drunk, hehe, and played dress up in my closet!
hehe, thanks!! i just happened to have that green trim laying around, i think i got it at a thrift shop! i love thrift shops, and garage sales, i got the crinoline from a garage sale, think it cost me like 4 dollars! thank you thank you!
nope, not pathetic, hehe! hand me downs are one of the best things in the world! i only had one year of shop, and it was middle school, and after that the teacher retired and the school sold everything in the shop and the drafting room, everything! wish i could have gotten one of the drafting tables *sigh* but alas i was in like 9th grade and broke, hehe! but yes, scraps rock, esp. scrap bins at fabric shops...
I dream of scoring at a sale like that; retirement, estate, whatever. I think some of the equipment I need will only come to me that way. Otherwise it's just to expensive. I scored a drafting table when I lived in Denver. Someone moved and just left it by the dumsters. Not fancy, but perfectly intact. I still use it.
