this is another flapper design, but this one didnt end up getting used for the show. too bad, as its one of my favorites. this is pulled almost directly from a pattern book from 1925!

Ooh, I really like this one. It's flapper, but not the "traditional" sort. It has flowers yay! neat neat.
:icontrinity-lea:
hehe, this may not be 'traditional' which is really a stereotype, but it is about as period as you can get! this and the other two flapper designs are very heavily influenced by a pattern book from 1925 that my grandmother let me borrow! thank you thank you!!

Wow, Trinny your designs are SO COOL!! I love 20s style *especially tha HAIR* I really love this one, its so sweet and simple. I really liked your pirate take 2 design too, it looks like something out of the latest Gwen Stefani video! Great stuff....do you take commissions to design patterns?

hehe, actually i dont know how to design patterns! ive never gone to school for any of it or anything. most of the stuff i make based on my drawings is made using altered patterns ive bought. the flapper costumes i made are about the only thing ive ever done completely from scratch, and i messed those up badly in a few places, out of sheer inexperience. the pirate costume drawings are actually based off patterns i bought and took bits and pieces of each one and put them together, pants from one pattern with a shirt from another and a vest from a third. i wish i knew better how to make my own patterns, but id either have to take classes for it or learn it by trial and error, and im doing a lot of the error side of it, hehe! thanks for the comment hun, im so glad you liked it!!

Wow, if you'd never said anyting, i would never have known that you made any mistakes in those flapper costumes! they looked fabulous! I think your ideas are terrific, you really should get into it more...design a whole line! I was asking if you took commissions because I need a new evening gown for the annual mayor's ball. I'm determined to go this year, and its in December, so I'm getting a HUGE head start. My husband is going to wear his tux jacket and his kilt w/ combat boots, so I'm in the market for something to compliment,....haven't quite found it yet, but i do have some patters from [link] to go with....oh , that reminds me...if you check out that website...they have VINTAGE patterns of hats and dresses from the 30s and 40s...thought you might like to see them ^_~

ooh, vogue patterns, yeah, theyre expensive, hehe! i actually have bought my favorite of their vintage line, and theres a couple of other ones i want, but their ONE twenties pattern SUCKS!!! hehe! so youre not looking for a pattern, just a dress? ive made dresses, hehe. the Mayors Ball huh? anything like the Marine Ball? ive made a dress for my friend to wear to the Marine Ball. its the blue regency dress in my gallery.

Acually, on that website, they're 50% off! I was shocked, cuz yeah, they are wicked expensive! No, I'm looking for a pattern to have a dress made. My mother sews very well, and she's made most of the dresses that i've worn for my special occasions. Nah, the Mayor's ball is a hobnob society shindig, with all the "local elitists" in attendance. I've always wanted to go with my tattoos hanging out all over and crash the thing (my husband and I love to ballroom dance, and get dressed up, but up here there aren't many places to go unless you want to dance with octegenarians (who can really cut it up, actually). The marine ball sounds more like an armed forces formal...we've got those at the unit level...the last one i went to i was 6 months pregnant! I saw the regency dress you did...its really beautiful...i love that rich royal blue color and the lace details...very pretty!

oh i meant to ask you, how's the textile subcategory deal going?

yeah, the marine ball is for marines, lol, my friend has worn the regency dress two years in a row to the ball now! that makes me so happy! but yeah, crashing a high society shindig sounds like fun! hehe, ive never taken a commission from another state before! i wouldnt know what to do! heh, you can get vogue patterns half price at JoAnns all the time, i usually wait till they go on sale for like 3 or 4 dollars. i love pattern sales!
